Who is Jayme M. Whitfield?

A mother, a grandmother, a wife, a daughter, a niece, a student, a loyal coworker, and a black woman born in Detroit and raised in Alabama. See this page. We are excited to honor her life in a way that can impact others just like her.

Why did you make this for HBCU students?

Historically Black Colleges & Universities are an amazing resource. Jayme attended Howard University and encouraged all of her children to attend one as well. How will you select the student(s) receiving the scholarship?

Great question! The process around that is in development (criteria, application, selection, etc.). Once the details have been secured and we are at a point to accept applicants, we’ll share those updates!

Is this a 501c-3 non-profit organization?

Not yet! That is the next step we are pursuing and aim to achieve in 2021.
